This spring, students throughout Texas will take the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, which are designed to measure how well students have mastered the knowledge and skills for each particular grade level. The STAAR is more rigorous than past assessments because it also measures whether a student is learning at a college ready level.
