The mission of the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools is to enhance the educational process by implementing prevention and early intervention strategies that enable students to graduate and become productive and responsible citizens.
 

Services & Support Offered

The Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (SDFS) offers training in drug and violence prevention for staff, students, and parents. SDFS also provides training and assistance to teachers in the area of Human Growth, Development, and Sexuality. In addition, a specialist is available to present parent programs to encourage open communication between parent and child regarding issues related to puberty and sexuality. SDFS also organizes the administration of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Programs offered by SDFS are centered on the 40 Developmental Assets® that provide knowledge in building positive relationships to produce healthy youth, safe schools and productive communities.
