    Yes, really!  Snow Makeup Days for all DISD schools will be Friday, April 3rd and Friday, June 5th.  These will be instructional days that students must report to campus at regular class time.  The district will request a waiver for the third missed day, so stay tuned for more details about that decision.

  • YOUNG AMERICAN TALENT awards

    The Young American Talent awards are presented to artworks created by North Texas high school students by submission.  The works are evaluated and judged, and the winners were recently selected and announced.
     
    Meg Mickelsen won the Best of Show Award, and a $1000 prize sponsored by Neiman Marcus, for her drawing "Mystic Scramble".

    Additional students also won cash awards - 1st place - $200, 2nd place - $150, and 3rd place - $100)

     In addition, all of these award winning pieces are headed to an Encore Exhibit, where they will be displayed at Dallas Love Field Airport, from October 2015 - January 2016.  Congratulations to all the winners!

  • Choir makes Sweepstakes!

    Congratulations to our Choral Department on their fine showing at the Region 20 UIL Contests held at Duncanville High School for the past two days. All four of our choirs, Non-Varsity Treble, Varsity Tenor/Bass, Varsity Treble, and Varsity Mixed earned Sweepstakes Awards from the judges! Congratulations to all of the choral students and their directors, Mrs. Stephens, Mr. Myers, and Ms. Smith.   • BTW honored at DISD Trustee Meeting

    Booker T was recognized at the March 26th Board of Trustee meeting for receiving the Texas Medal of Arts from the Texas Cultural Trust. Included in the photo of the recognition are Superintendent Mike Miles, Executive Director Dr. Liliana Valadez, Principal Dr. Scott Rudes, DISD Trustee Bernadette Nutall, Interim Artistic Director Lily Weiss, PR Specialist Sharon Cornell, Dance's Kate Walker, Visual Arts' Paige Furr, Theatre's Karen Cogdill and other community and campus leaders.   • Art Donations to the LeTot Girls' Center

    Donations of Print and Paintings were made to LeTot Girl's Center. LeTot is a all girls school targeted to at risk young women in the Dallas metroplex. The art will inspire and motivate all young women at the center. This donation was made by the following Visual Art Students: Alix Kast, Sophie Anthony, Sydney Connor, Ebonie Pollock, Ashley Lopez, and Veronica Jones.
