The Dallas ISD Wellness Policy was developed in collaboration with students, parents, community members, and health experts. The policy provides guidance to campuses, staff, and parents that follow state and federal guidelines that advance student health and reduce childhood obesity. The policy promotes the general well-being of students and staff through nutrition education, physical activity, and other school based activities.
The Wellness Policy is reviewed annually by the District's School Health Advisory Council.
In response to Senate Bill 530, Dallas ISD will implement a required fitness assessment for all 3rd-12th grade students. FITNESSGRAM is the specific instrument selected by TEA to be used for fitness testing.
