Free & Reduced Price Meals
All Student Meals are Free
The Dallas ISD Food & Child Nutrition Services Department offers healthy meals, every school day. All meals and snacks are served to students at no charge. However, meal applications are needed from families that may qualify for Free or and Reduced-Price benefits throughout the 2013-2014 school year. Students may purchase additional menu items or snacks with their lunch.
Who may qualify for Free or Reduced-Price Meal Benefits?
Children in households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (SNAP--formerly Food Stamps) or TANF may be eligible to receive free meals regardless of household income. Also, if your household income is falls within Federal Income Chart limits, your children may be eligible to receive free or reduced-price meal benefits. Foster-Care children may also qualify for Free or Reduced-Price Meal benefits. Call FCNS at (214) 932-5500, if there are any questions.
Do I need to fill out an application for each child?
No. Only one application per household is required to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits. Each household may complete one Family Application for Meal Benefits listing all children in the household. Incomplete Family Applications will not be approved; therefore, all required information requested on the application must be included. Return the completed application to either child's school office or cafeteria.
If I do not qualify at this time, may I apply again, later?
Yes. You may re-apply at any time during the school year, if your household size increases, or if the household income decreases, or if the household starts receiving SNAP or TANF benefits. If you become unemployed, your children may also be able to receive free or reduced-price meals.
