Conflict of Interest Disclosures
Representing District 1, Dr. Edwin Flores was elected to the Board of Trustees in May 2005. Dr. Flores is a biotechnology patent attorney in private practice. Dr. Flores earned a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin. Next, he received a doctorate in Immunology from Washington University in St. Louis. Finally, Dr. Flores earned his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
Dr. Flores currently serves on the National Advisory Council of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). More recently, Dr. Flores was also appointed to the NIH Council of Councils, where he represents NIGMS.
Dr. Flores currently serves on the SMU Tate Lecture Series, the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Nature & Science. Dr. Flores is a frequent speaker on the topics of patent law, intellectual property, biotechnology, nanotechnology, bioethics, technology transfer, and K-16 education. |
