General Information
Welcome to the Dallas Independent School District
The Dallas ISD is committed to becoming a leader in urban education and student achievement.
A voter-approved $1.37 billion building program is changing the look of Dallas neighborhoods with 20 new schools and more than 1,600 classrooms and renovations to existing schools to improve the learning environment for the district’s 160,000-plus students.
On the academic side, change is under way through Dallas Achieves! – a comprehensive plan for realigning resources and improving the way teachers teach and children learn in the Dallas ISD. Dallas Achieves! sets ambitious five-year goals and annual performance targets in the areas of state test scores, graduation rates, and college readiness.
The Dallas ISD is the 12th largest school district in the nation with a diverse population of more than 160,000 students. Almost 70 different languages are spoken in the homes of our students. Serving these students are more than 19,000 employees, making the Dallas ISD one of the largest employers in the city.
