INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

The basic requirements for ALL applicants to be considered for our alternative teacher certification are:

  1. You must have the equivalent of a four-year or five-year college bachelor's degree from an accredited university; and
  2. Minimum 2.5 overall grade point average on a 4.0 system or
  3. 2.75 in your last 60 hours of course work
  4. Demonstrate fluency in English and Spanish.
  5. A passing score of 26 on the TOEFL IBT is now required of all graduates of international universities. The Dallas ISD AC Program Code for TOEFL is 8613

You will submit the following documents:

1. The completed application
2. A copy of your complete passport
3. A copy of your social security card if you have one.
4. An application letter and a resume or curriculum vitae
5. A notarized copy of your original degree and/or titulo in Spanish
6. A notarized English translation of your titulo.
7. Two notarized transcripts or Cardex from the universities where you have been awarded a degree.
8. One official English translation of these transcripts.
9. If you have attended other universities, we need one notarized copy or set of original transcripts or Cardex from these other universities
10. One official English translation of these transcripts.
11. Three originals of your foreign transcript evaluation.
12. TOEFL Scores (new requirement as of Sept 1, 2006)
13. Three reference letters or forms (See Application Form Downloads for a sample)

You will then be invited to take the Phone Pass test. 

We will review your test scores and the documentation. If you perform well on these tests, you will be invited by email to come to an interview. For the interview, you will need to bring the three (3) letters of reference if you have not turned them in yet.

If you do well on the interview, your folder will go to a hiring committee in your respective certification area and we will contact you if there are positions available and we are interested in hiring you.

Attention: Candidates for Elementary Bilingual Teaching Positions

Prospective elementary teachers must take and pass the TExES 101 EC-4 Elementary Content Test in order to be "highly qualified". This test is only administered by Educational Testing Systems (www.texes.ets.org) in the state of Texas at this time. Our AC Program offers training prior to each test once a candidate is accepted into our program. View the TExES 101 for more information.
