Applicants who applied to the Dallas ISD
AC Program within the last 18 months can have their application reactivated by
sending a letter to:
Alternative
Certification Department
Attn:
2007-2008 Reactivations
2909 North
Buckner Blvd, 4th Floor
Dallas,
Texas 75228
or by emailing Betty Singleton (bsingle@dallasisd.org)
If you applied to our program
more than 18 months ago, you will need to re-submit an entire application packet
and supporting documentation.
Upon reactivation, your file will be
reviewed for any missing documentation and a letter will be sent to you confirming
those deficiencies. The application process stops until the application
packet is complete.
Due to changes in state and
federal guidelines the Dallas AC Program has revamped the application process.
Applicants who have complete
application packets, including supporting documentation, meet all grade point
requirements, successfully complete all testing, successfully perform during the
interview process, and pass the criminal background check may be admitted to
the Dallas ISD AC Program.
Interviews for elementary bilingual
and special education applicants will begin in September. Interviews for
secondary candidates will begin in October.
The recent state and federal
guidelines require all elementary and secondary teachers to be "highly
qualified".
Applicants for secondary positions
must meet the courework requirements. Secondary applicants in English, Math, Science, or Spanish who do
not meet the number of university hours (lacking nine hours at the upper level)
may "challenge" the TExES content test in that area with the approval of the
Dallas ISD ACP Certification Officer.
Once an elementary applicant is
accepted into the program, the elementary candidate must successfully pass the
TExES EC-4 101 Content exam to be eligible to be hired. For more
information about test dates, registration, and requirements, please visit the
TExES website: www.texes.ets.org
The Dallas ISD AC Program will be offering
a free TExES Online TExES Prep Course to those candidates who are accepted into
the program. You should receive an email inviting you to participate in
this course. Elementary candidates must complete this course before they
are given permission to take the TExES EC-4 101 Teacher Certification Content
Test.
Once the elementary candidates have
successfully completed the TExES Online Prep course, they must complete an Intern Release Form for Testing giving the Dallas ISD ACP permission to
release the elementary candidate's demographic information to the State Board
for Educator Certification (SBEC) and Educational Testing Systems.
By April 1, 2008, based upon the
certification needs of the district and the applicant's "highly qualified"
status, applicants will be offered a position in the Daytime Guaranteed Program
or the AC Evening/Weekend Academy.
