The Academy supplements the guaranteed program and provides an opportunity for applicants to receive training for teaching positions in other content areas. These include the arts, physical education, business and other elective courses. Academy participants receive training that mirrors the day program. While the Academy does not offer guaranteed employment in the Dallas ISD, 99% of the applicants who complete the program receive a teaching assignment in the Dallas ISD.
Counselor and Librarian Certification
The Dallas ISD-ACP also offers professional certification in School Counseling and School Librarian. Candidates must have two years of successful teaching experience and a master’s degree from an accredited university by the time they finish their professional certification. Candidates may be accepted into these two areas without a master’s, but must be currently working on one and able to complete it within 18 months of the beginning of the program. |
