Overview of Construction
The $1.37 billion 2002 bond program is well on its way to changing the landscape of the Dallas Independent School District. The scope of construction is far-reaching and will touch nearly every school in the district. When construction is completed, the Dallas ISD will have grown to include 20 new schools, a central food services facility, a new athletic complex, and a facility reconstructed as the home of a new school. In addition, nearly every existing school in the district will have new additions or renovations.
Construction teams have completed 15 new schools, the new athletic complex, and dozens of school additions and renovations. As projects are completed, overcrowded schools will experience needed relief.
