The Bond Program picked up momentum in 2005 by building on the successful administration of the program in 2004. Some of the 2005 highlights include:
More than $306 million was spent on various contracts and purchases, which means that about 74 percent of the total projected expenditures have been completed.
About $425 million was spent on construction.
All but two of the planned 22 sites for new construction have been selected and acquired.
The use of minority- and women-owned businesses at the prime and subcontracting levels increased by 7 percent to 41 percent.
Design work was completed on all but 17 of the 226 renovations and additions planned for existing schools and facilities.
Construction work at 77 schools was completed, and work at another 98 schools was substantially complete.
