Highland Meadows Elementary School

Looking out through the windows of the new Highland Meadows Elementary School, it’s easy to see why the neighborhood’s long-time residents love the area.

Mature trees form canopies that create quiet, shaded streets, sidewalks and yards. Nearby, a few blocks behind the school, a peaceful creek winds its way through the area. Homes in the vicinity are welcoming and well-kept, with cheerful flower beds, attractive greenery and plenty of booster signs in the yards.

This is a place where people of diverse backgrounds participate, care and pull together. This is the Highlands area of northeast Dallas. People here are proud of their kids, proud of their heritage, proud of their homes, proud of their neighborhood … and proud of their schools.

Just a bit north and east of White Rock Lake, the land retains a slight roll. Well-maintained streets wind through the neighborhood.

Highland Meadows is a hospitable neighborhood, steeped in the traditions of northeast Dallas where child and parent often graduate from the same schools. Yet the neighborhood is near a cross roads of Dallas, with easy access to nearby Northwest Highway and Loop 635. Residents have easy access for commuting, shopping and entertainment.

And now, thanks to Dallas voters and the 2002 bond program, the neighborhood sports a new school: Highland Meadows Elementary. Like the neighborhood for which it is named, Highland Meadows will hold a special place in the hearts and memories of the students who learn there, the teachers who stimulate their learning and the families who value a strong public education.
