J.L. Long Middle School received renovations to nearly 132,000 square feet of building area, including: Americans with Disabilities Act work; upgrades to fire alarm and suppression systems; science room upgrades; and air conditioning system upgrades to the gym. The school also received an addition of about 24,000 square feet, featuring 16 new classrooms, new support spaces, and additional restrooms.
