  • BTW Sweeps Up at UIL!!

    On April 16 & 17, the Booker T Wind Ensemble earned 1st division ratings at UIL Concert and Sightreading competition. On April 17th, the Booker T JV and Varsity Orchestras earned 1st division ratings at the same contest. All our choral, wind and string music ensembles earned the highest ratings available at UIL competitions this year. Congratulations to Ms. Stephens, Mr. Large and Mr. Schnitzer for their leadership, and to all the music students in these ensembles for all their hard work!! ..............................................................................

  • BTW Student Film Performance

    One of Booker T. Washington’s own has been selected as a finalist at the second annual Sight of Sound International Film Competition on April 28th in Dallas. Junior Montana Brock will have his short silent film screened with a live accompaniment by the Dallas Chamber Symphony. Montana’s entry – The Last Spring, with music by Edvard Grieg – was one of five finalist films chosen to be shown live at the Symphony’s season finale. He beat out entries from professional filmmakers from around the world and amateur filmmakers at some of the country’s most prestigious film schools. The performance will be held on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 at Dallas City Performance Hall (2520 Flora Street, Dallas, Texas 75201). It will begin at 8:00 p.m. Individual tickets are available for $19-$49 each, $12 for students. The entire performance will be family friendly as finalist films are appropriate for all ages.   • BTW honored at DISD Trustee Meeting

    Booker T was recognized at the March 26th Board of Trustee meeting for receiving the Texas Medal of Arts from the Texas Cultural Trust. Included in the photo of the recognition are Superintendent Mike Miles, Executive Director Dr. Liliana Valadez, Principal Dr. Scott Rudes, DISD Trustee Bernadette Nutall, Interim Artistic Director Lily Weiss, PR Specialist Sharon Cornell, Dance's Kate Walker, Visual Arts' Paige Furr, Theatre's Karen Cogdill and other community and campus leaders.   • Art Donations to the LeTot Girls' Center

    Donations of Print and Paintings were made to LeTot Girl's Center. LeTot is a all girls school targeted to at risk young women in the Dallas metroplex. The art will inspire and motivate all young women at the center. This donation was made by the following Visual Art Students: Alix Kast, Sophie Anthony, Sydney Connor, Ebonie Pollock, Ashley Lopez, and Veronica Jones.
