Grammy Graphic Design Winner Announced

Sarah Wright, Visual Arts senior, has been named the Grammy in the Schools Graphic Design Winner for 2010.

Sarah was selected through the BTW Desktop Publishing class, taught by Dr. Nancy Mack. She has designed the 2010 yearbook cover, and the ad section. She is also the Macy's Scholarship winner. She will enroll at the University of North Texas with a major in Communication Design in the fall.

Her artwork, which has been selected as the official “GRAMMY in the Schools” logo, will appear on a flyer sent to every high school in the country and be seen by thousands of teachers, students, and others nationwide. The logo will also appear on the cover of the Jazz Ensembles CD.

Sarah is working with Joseph Langford, at the Grammy Foundation this summer to finish formatting the logo for the various promotional materials. The posters and CDs will be available in the fall.

Students Have Artwork in Congressional District Exhibition
Jaquey Rodriguez, Visual Arts senior, will be traveling to Washington DC where her work will be on display in the congressional hallway for one year. Her work was selected in Jeb hensarling's District #5 competition.

Visual Arts Student is a Sotheby Winner
Visual Arts senior, Stephanie Sandoval, has received a scholarship opportunity from the Dallas Arts Fair to travel to New York on March 4th and 5th to visit with world renowned Sotheby’s Auction House, the Guggenheim, the Whitney and the opening of the Armory Show, the Pier 92 Art Fair and the New Museum. Each of these events is extremely important in the art world. This opportunity will be invaluable to Stephanie as she prepares to enter her chosen career.
In addition, Stephanie will be making a presentation to the experts at Sotheby’s about her visit and what she expects to learn. Upon her return she will share her experience with her visual arts classmates through photos documenting each event and her written account.

Drawing Students as Old Masters
Drawing II students have created self-portraits in the style of Old Masters, inspired by Rembrandt's portraiture and a contemporary French photographer named Pierre Gonnard. These students are enrolled in Ms. Kutscheid's and Ms. Edmondson's Drawing classes.
