Second Grade
Children in second grade build upon the academic skills acquired in first grade. They learn responsibility and independence by taking care of their supplies and doing their homework routinely. Second graders read a variety of books including fiction and non-fiction. They learn about characters, setting, changes, and plot. When they study non-fiction they will learn about headings, diagrams, captions and more. Second graders use manipulatives in math as they continue to learn basic facts, skip counting, double digit addition and subtraction with regrouping and beginning multiplication and division. They study the world around them as they gain knowledge about plants, animals and themselves. We are thrilled to have each child in our classroom and strive to help them reach their full potential.
