    Accordining to the National Survey of Drug Use Health Summary of National Findings, approximately nine percent of U.S. youth ages 12 to 17, use illicit drugs. The same survey shows substance abuse could be prevented through early interventions, including parental involvement.

  • College Banner Program

    Paul L. Dunbar has been selected as a recipient of the Extra Yard for Teacher's College Banner Program. Sponsored by the College Football Playoff Foundation and Commit! Partnership, the initiative helps elementary schools create a college-going culture on their campus by supplying college banners. Dunbar hopes to inspire our scholars to "love learning" and help them dream of pursuing their passions. A SPECIAL THANKS to Principal Waters for his vision and submission of our application.

  • Hispanic Heritage Celebrations Planned

    The Multicultural Committee has planned two Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations. The first one will be held October 16th for 3rd & 5th grade scholars and the second event will take place October 17th for PK-2 scholars. The time for both events is 2:00 p.m. Mark your calendar and plan to attend...don't miss the "Roll Call of Nations" involving all Dunbar scholars.

    Dunbar's 1st Muffins with Moms will take place Friday, October 24, from 7:15-7:45 a.m., in Room 117.  Grandmoms, Great-Grandmoms, Godmoms, and Aunts are invited to come and have breakfast with their scholar.  We're looking forward to seeing you!

    The Paul Laurence Dunbar Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Committee will holds its monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 5:00 p.m.  The meeting will take place at the Paul Laurence Dunbar campus in the Library/Media Center, 2nd floor.  Please be present...we will be reviewing our SBDM By-Laws.

     


     
    Do you have a 3 or 4-year old child?  Do you want your child to be suceessful in school?  Are you willing to spend 15 minutes every day with your child?  If you answered "YES",  then HIPPY is for you!  HIPPY is a FREE Dallas ISD program that will provide you with:  *An instructor that will show you how to work with your child; *Children's books, crayons, scissors, and shapes; *Weekly lesson packets to help you teach your child; *Meetings once a month at Dunbar Learning Center for ideas on parenting as well as various workshops; *Special events and educational field trips
