    Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68)


    There have been many reports in the media over the past several weeks about the Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68).  It has now been identified in the DFW area. It is one of the over 100 enterovirus that circulates every year.  The virus can be found in respiratory secretion, such as saliva, nasal mucus or sputum.  It is spread from person to person when an infected person coughs, sneezes or touches contaminated surfaces.
