Career
Investigation
– Grade 8; One semester
An activity-oriented guidance course designed to develop greater
knowledge and understanding of career and educational
opportunities and options necessary to make meaningful and informed
career and educational choices. The 15 occupational clusters
and a variety of careers within each cluster are studied in
relation to an individual self-appraisal, including, but not
limited to interest, abilities, and aptitudes. Course culminates
in the development of a graduation plan based on career objectives
and educational training requirements for career concentration
objective.
Career Connections
– Grades 9-10; Credit: 1/2
An activity-based career development course which provides linkages
between classroom experiences, community resources and experiences,
and career choices to real world outcomes. Opportunities
to develop and/or improve self awareness in relation to
career opportunities and options and the related education,
training and lifelong learning and success in all adult roles
will be provided through classroom activities and shadowing
and other experiences in the community. Opportunities to explore
and experience a variety of career options with a specific career
concentration while developing and/or refining employability
skills will be provided all participants. |
