Objective

To equip schools and teachers with instructional development that willfoster the district’s mission of ensuring that all students readon or above grade level by the end of grade three.

Strategies

Dallas Independent School District Reading First Department providesa service oriented approach to aid in the instructional development ofK-3 teachers and K-12 Special Education teachers by:

  • Fostering a greater depth of support for current reading programs
  • Providing instructional development and tools for interventionswith struggling readers
  • Enhancing the integration of assessment data to inform classroom instruction
