Dallas Reading First Program Overview

Developed as part of the NoChild Left Behind legislation signed into law on January 8, 2002 By George W. Bush, Dallas Reading First is working to ensure every Dallas student can read at grade level by the third grade.

Dallas Reading First has been established to help schools be successful in reaching the NCLB goal. Currently, thirty Dallas schools have been selected to participate in this grant to implement researchbased practices in our schools.

Research based means that it has been tested successfully and it works.  Someof the research shows teachers how to teach better and also has ideas for parents and the community.  We want to help you better understand your role in Dallas Reading First.  Putting reading first . . . To help children learn to read.
