SAT & ACT ExaminationsAbout the SAT® Reasoning TestThe SAT® is developed by the College Board to assess high school students' readiness for college-level work. Participation is voluntary. The class of 2006 will be the first class to take the new SAT for college admissions. The SAT Reasoning Test, better known as the SAT, is a three-hour and forty-five-minute test that measures critical reading, writing, and mathematical reasoning skills students have developed over time and skills they need to be successful academically. About the ACT Assessment®The ACT Assessment® is designed by ACT, Inc. to assess high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. Participation is voluntary. The test is generally administered six times a year. Students can choose to take the test multiple times. The examination covers four academic skill areas: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science Reasoning. About the PSAT/NMSQTThe PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation. For many students, the PSAT/NMSQT is the first official step on the road to college. It assesses skills developed through years of study in a wide range of courses as well as through experiences outside the classroom.
