TAKS Student Assessment

About TAKS Student Assessment

Student assessment includes the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) as well as TAKS (Accommodated), TAKS-Modified (TAKS-M), TAKS-Alternative (TAKS-Alt). In the 2007-08 school year, a student in special education may have been administered the TAKS or one of the TAKS special education assessments: TAKS (Accommodated), TAKS-Modified, or TAKS-Alternate. Visit Special Education Assessments webpage for additional information and resources.

The State-Developed Alternative Assessment II (SDAA II) was last administered during the 2006-07 school year, and is not included in the 2007-08 AEIS reports. The assessment was replaced by the TAKS special education assessments listed above.

Linguistically accommodated testing (LAT) is a special administration of TAKS for LEP-exempt recent immigrants. Linguistic accommodations are made in order to assist students in overcoming language barriers and to provide a meaningful assessment of academic knowledge and skills. Visit English Language Learners (ELL) Assessments webpage for additional information and resources.

Results

The AEIS reports contain a summary of the TAKS tests. Results from TAKS (Accommodated) for certain grades and subjects are being phased into the accountability system. Campus and district-level performance results of the TAKS-Modified and the TAKS-Alternate are not shown on the 2007-08 AEIS reports.
