Research Proposals

The Dallas ISD’s Research Review Committee, comprised of the Executive Director of Program Evaluation or his designee and three other selected Dallas ISD staff, is responsible for investigating the advisability of district participation in extra-district research projects initiated or sponsored by individuals and agencies outside the system. In addition, the committee reviews research projects undertaken by district employees who wish to conduct the research to meet requirements of college or university courses or for other reasons.

Research Review Committee members examine and review research proposals with appropriate staff; approval is issued to those that warrant the district’s participation. Such peer review ensures each study follows sound standards in research methodology and statistical analyses and abides by high ethical standards. In addition, the committee considers whether or not the use of district staff and resources justifies the benefits resulting from the study both for the district and for the advancement of education and education-related fields as a whole. Although the Dallas ISD’s Research Review Committee is an independent entity, it abides by current and widely accepted research practices.
