On-Line Application Instructions and Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for applying to the Dallas Independent School District. We want this to be a positive experience for you. Please take a few moments to review the instructions prior to completing your application. We have also included some frequently asked questions that we hope will be helpful to you. If you need further assistance you may:

• You may visit Human Resource Services at 3807 Ross Ave, Dallas, Texas and one of our staff will assist you.
• The on-line application may not be used for non-teaching positions or for applying to the Alternative Certification Program. You may contact the Alternative Certification Department at 214-932-5008 for an application or call Human Resource Services at 972-925-4200 for further clarification.

Instructions

 1. ; The application is best viewed using Netscape 4.5 or higher or MS Explorer 4.0 or higher. You may want to reduce the size of your browser’s font to allow more of the application to be visible on your screen.

 2. ; You will be asked for the following specific information to complete the application. Have available for reference:

• Certification Type, Level, Description; month and year of issue and month and year of expiration, ; if applicable
• College/Universities attended, graduation date, degree earned and major subject.
• To/From dates of teaching, student teaching and non-teaching experience, name of organization, name of supervisor and contact phone number.
• Honors, distinctions, and training you have completed.

 3. ; Certain fields have been identified with an asterick (*). These fields are required and you will not be allowed to submit your application unless these fields are completed.

 4. ; When entering phone numbers, only input the numbers. Do not try to enter dashes, hyphens or parentheses.

 5. ; When entering dates, follow the format indicated, i.e., (MM/YYYY) equals 05/2000.

 6. ; If you hold a Lifetime Certification, leave the Expire Date field blank; do not enter Lifetime.

 7. ; When you have completed a page, click on the NEXT button at the bottom of the page to save your information and move to the next page.

 8. ; The JUMP TO PAGE function allows you to move from page to page without submitting the information. This function may be used to preview the application before beginning your input or for reviewing your application before submitting the final page. Using the JUMP TO PAGE function does NOT save data entered on your application. You must click on the NEXT button of each page to properly save all data entered.

 9. ; We recommend that you print a copy of your application before you submit the final page. Once you have submitted the final page you will not be able to access your application to make any changes or corrections. Use the JUMP TO PAGE function as you will need to print each page individually.

 10. Once you have submitted your application you will receive the message "Your application has been successfully transmitted to the DISD. Thank you for your interest in employment with the district." This is your indication that your credentials are available to district principals and other hiring officials. You do not need to send any further paperwork to the district.

 11. ; It is anticipated that the application process will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. The system will time out automatically if the NEXT button or the SUBMIT button has not been activated for more than 30 minutes. If this occurs, you will be directed back to a new application and may begin the process again.

 12. ; Dependent upon your browser’s functionality, depressing the ENTER key on your keyboard may take you to the next page. To avoid this problem, use only the TAB key or your mouse to move from field to field.
