Campus Technologist
Criteria for Selection and Evaluation


The Campus Technologist is the liaison between Instructional Technology, Transformation Management Office (Information Technology Department), and the local campus. The CT will be paid a stipend per semester based on the official state ‘snap shot’ date for student enrollment in October. Based on the projected Campus Technologist chart below, your campus may have the option to select multiple CT’s. The CT is expected to perform basic computer troubleshooting. The CT position can be filled by a teacher, teacher assistant, librarian, or other staff member.

To recommend an individual for campus technologist, the principal must complete the Campus Technologist Recommendation Form.

Selection Criteria: To qualify as the Campus Technologist for your campus, the person:

  • must be technology proficient
  • must be experienced in working cooperatively with teachers and administrators
  • must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, oral and written
  • must be able to fulfill the expectations for one full school year
  • must have experience in using computers and other technology
  • must be able to use Windows 98, 2000, and XP
  • must be able to perform basic computer troubleshooting

It is expected and required that your Campus Technologist:

  • attend the Fall and Spring ½ day seminar for critical information and training
  • be able to provide limited technical assistance to help solve instructional software and hardware problems
  • be able to input and track TAC tickets
  • be able to manage Network accounts for the campus (Curriculum Central logins should be directed to the campus MyDataPortal liaison)
  • be able to submit an electronic inventory of instructional technology
  • be able to train campus teachers on the basics of accessing and using Curriculum Central
  • complete/submit the report for the Bring Your Laptop to School program
  • serve as the liaison between Instructional Technology, Information Technology Department, including the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and Network Service, and the campus
  • be able to meet the minimum expectations and proficiencies as specified in this packet
  • be able to maintain online communications with Instructional Technology and Information Technology through district email
  • be given adequate time to complete assigned tasks

Campus Technologist Expectations and Proficiencies for 2008-2009

(1) Maintain active DISD email address (required)

  • DISD email must be checked regularly.

(2) Perform basic campus computer troubleshooting

(3) Attend Campus Technologist seminar (fall & spring)

(4) Input and track TAC tickets

(5) Manage campus network accounts

  • Update teacher and student accounts
  • MyDataPortal and Curriculum Central logins/passwords should be directed to the campus account manager for MyDataPortal

(6) Provide Curriculum Central training to staff

  • Retain sign-in sheets as documentation

(7) Complete/submit the Bring Your Laptop to School report

(8) Assist in satisfying state technology initiatives

  • STaR Chart
  • Online testing

(9) Update campus inventory of technology

 

Documentation will only be received between November 24 and Dec. 12, 2008 (Fall) and May 4 and May 22, 2009 (Spring). However, actual receipt of the stipend will depend upon the date that the documentation was received as well as the time taken to process and verify the documented information
