Office of Legal Services

The Office of Legal Services provides legal services, consistent with the mission of the Dallas Independent School District, to the Board of Trustees, Superintendent of Schools and other district employees in the course and scope of their employment.

The Office of Legal Services is responsible for the management of legal services
for the district and providing legal representation in matters involving the school district.  The Office of Legal Services provides comprehensive legal services in the area of compliance with federal, state and local laws, the interpretation of laws, employee training sessions, negotiation of contract terms, facilitation of the Texas Public Information Act, policy coordination and representation of the district in administrative hearings before the Board of Trustees and in the courts. The Office of Legal Services supervises legal services in all areas with the exception of workers’ compensation and tax collection.

The Office of Legal Services staff is comprised of a General Counsel, School Attorneys, paralegals, and additional support staff. The General Counsel is responsible for the management of the Office of Legal Services.  The General Counsel is also responsible for assigning work to the School Attorneys and other staff members.
