Office of Legal Services
Policy
Overview:
The district shall be guided by Board-adopted written policies.
Only those written statements adopted by the Board and recorded
in the minutes shall be
regarded as official board policy. The Superintendent and administrative
staff shall be responsible for developing and enforcing procedures
for the operation
of the district. (See BF (local)). Administrative regulations consist of
guides, handbooks, and forms as well as other documents defining
standard operating
procedures (See BP (local)).
The legal office supports the Board and the Superintendent in
the implementation of policy and regulations through a process
known as policy legal review. All proposed changes to policy must
be submitted on a Proposed Policy Change Form. All proposed changes
to regulations or exhibits must be submitted on a Proposed Regulation/Exhibit
Change Form.
All proposed changes submitted must be properly logged in and
date stamped as to when received. All forms must be signed by the
Deputy Superintendent or the Special Assistant to the Superintendent
prior to submission to Legal. Documents will not be accepted if
they do not contain the proper signatures. No forms will be accepted
electronically (i.e. e-mail). Each department will be responsible
for submitting proposed changes in a timely manner.
Questions concerning the policy review process should be directed
to Fay Matthews, School Attorney, at 972-925-3250
