The Dallas Independent School District has developed a training
series designed to meet the needs of all professional administrators.
It reflects job-embedded skills that are consistent with district
initiatives as well as the opportunity for individual choice. As
educational leaders, administrators have the opportunity to choose
experiences that will nurture their professional growth, meet mandatory
requirements designed to support district initiatives, and provide
increased knowledge and skills to meet the specific needs of the
campus and other work settings.
Dallas ISD Cooperative Masters Degree Programs
Thank you for your interest in the Dallas ISD Cooperative
Masters Degree Programs. Both of the programs described here are
for those who wish to pursue a masters degree in educational administration
and certification as a campus administrator. First, there are some
general points of information.
-
There is no program called a "Fast Track," but these
programs are all planned to move as quickly as the program design
will allow.
-
The district does not have a program that is for
certification only. All of our programs are for a masters degree
and certification. If you already have a masters degree and
want to add the Principal Certificate, you should contact one
of the area universities that offers a certification program.
-
All of these programs are cohort programs. That
means that a group of Dallas ISD employees is selected for each
program and moves through the entire program together. The courses
for these programs are not open to non-cohort graduate students.
-
The district does not contribute to the tuition,
fees, or books for these programs. All expenses are the responsibility
of the student. University scholarships and student loans may
be available through the university financial aid offices.
UNT Cooperative Masters Degree – Cohort 4 - The University of North Texas and the Dallas ISD offer this 39-hour masters degree program that participants complete in a two-year timeframe. Cohort 4 will begin in the Fall Semester of 2008. Students in the program remain in their teaching positions and complete internship requirements under the direction of their building principal. In the Fall and Spring semesters, classes meet on Tuesday evenings. Summer classes meet during the day on selected days of the week. All classes are held at the Universities Center at Dallas in downtown Dallas.
