Resolution of Issues
The teacher is the first person with whom an individual should try to resolve a concern. Parents are advised to request a parent–teacher conference.
As the instructional leaders, the assistant principal and the principal are responsible for setting the tone of discipline and instruction. Parents are encouraged to ask for an appointment to speak with the assistant principal or the principal if they have any suggestions or concerns about discipline, instruction or student activities that have not been addressed by the teacher.
When a concern cannot be resolved at the school building level, the next step is to visit the principal’s supervisor, his/her area superintendent. When problems cannot be resolved with an area superintendent, the next step is the office of the deputy superintendent for School Support Services. These individuals are accessible to parents; appointments are recommended.
If an accord is not reached with any of the above-mentioned authorities, citizens of the district are welcome to attend the board meetings and sign up to appear before trustees. Trustees may be reached by contacting the Office of Board Services at (972) 925-3720. Board meetings are held every fourth Thursday of the month.
