Magnet School Information
Magnet program enrollment begins in January
Applying for enrollment in the district’s magnet program for the 2008-2009 school year begins in January.
The district’s magnet school system is made of magnets for high school students, academies for middle school students, and vanguards for elementary school students. The schools provide career-oriented or specialized curriculum in addition to academic subjects.
At magnets, high school students can take college preparatory courses and have access to curricula for investigating and exploring today’s career choices. Among the career areas students may explore are dentistry, forensic science, banking law, and computer engineering.
Any eligible student may apply for the magnet program. To be eligible, students must show good conduct and meet academic and assessment entrance requirements.
Magnet Fair
Students interested in enrolling in one of the magnet, vanguard, or academy programs of the Dallas ISD should attend the district’s magnet information fair from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Skyline Career Development Center, 7777 Forney Road.
