Parental Public School Choice

Parental Public School Choice Brochure

A major component of Dallas Achieves! is providing parents with a choice when it comes to selecting their child’s secondary school.  Career pathways will be offered at nine redesigned high schools to eighth-graders who will enter the ninth grade in the 2010-2011 school year.

Redesigned High Schools:

  • Bryan Adams
  • W.H. Adamson
  • David W. Carter
  • Emmett J. Conrad
  • James Madison
  • L.G. Pinkston
  • W.W. Samuell
  • H. Grady Spruce
  • Woodrow Wilson

The career pathways are open to all current eighth-graders and have no academic requirements. If a student is accepted into one of the career pathways, that school will become the student’s new home school. Because of a limited number of spaces at each school, acceptance will be determined through a lottery. The district will not provide transportation for students who are accepted.
More information on the participating schools and the career pathways offered will be available in January 2010.
