Student Transfers
Students in kindergarten through high school in the Dallas Independent School District may apply for transfers from their assigned school to a school that better matches their interests or meets their needs—as long as they qualify and space is available. (See board policy FDB atwww.tasb.org/policy/pol/private/057905/).
Student transfer requests will only be processed during the application windows for the 2009–2010 school year.

- Submit by mail, fax, or hand deliver the transfer to the Student Transfer Office for final approval/denial and signature.
- If approved by the Student Transfer Office, enroll in the receiving school.

Transfer Program |
To attend another Dallas
ISD school with available
space if the assigned
school has not made adequate
yearly progress
(AYP) for two or more
consecutive years |
- NCLB School Choice Parent Notification letters and applications are mailed to parents if their child’s school has not made adequate yearly progress for two or more consecutive years.
- Complete the NCLB application and submit it by mail, fax or hand deliver to the Student Transfer Office no later than the date specified on the application.
- Students will be assigned to schools with priority given to low achieving, low-income students.
- Notifications of assignments are mailed to the address listed on the applications.

Application Window:
Within 30 days from parent notification letter date, as defined by Texas Education Agency.

As specified in notification of assignment letter. |
| Note: Transportation is provided by the district for all NCLB School Choice Transfers. |
Out-of-District Transfers |
To attend a school within the Dallas ISD if
the student lives outside the district.
This includes employee’s children and PEG
transfers who live outside the district. |
- Fill out the Out-of-District Transfer Form. (If new magnet student, do not complete the form until student has gone through the entire Magnet Selection Process and been accepted into the magnet.)
- Obtain the receiving school principal’s approval/denial and signature.
- Submit by mail, fax, or hand deliver the transfer to the Student Transfer Office for final approval/denial and signature.
- If approved by the Student Transfer Office, enroll in the receiving school.
