Partners in Education

Partnerships are collaborative efforts to achieve mutually agreed upon goals and objectives by matching business and community resources with the identified needs of an individual school or the district. Recognized locally and nationally over the past 34 years for providing outstanding support to Dallas schoolchildren and schools, Dallas partnerships represent all facets of our community: agencies, businesses, individuals, parents, organizations and civic groups, private/public/higher education schools, and religious institutions. These partners enhance, enrich, support, encourage and offer a unique variety of talents and expertise to our students and staff.

Volunteers
About 19,000 volunteers work in Dallas ISD schools each school year and almost 11,000 work with special districtwide programs, such as advisory committees, Communities in Schools, Junior Achievement, Texas Scholars, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and job shadowing. The contributions of volunteers amount to almost 600,000 hours spent working to improve the educational experience of students throughout the district.

Volunteers serve as tutors and mentors; others serve as classroom speakers, Texas Scholars presenters, judges, and members of advisory or site-based committees. Also among the thousands of parent and individual volunteers, are those who assist school librarians, nurses, teachers, office and cafeteria managers, and other staff.
