Texas Educator Excellence Grant
The Texas Educator Excellence Grant award offers both campus and individual level awards. Recognized and Exemplary Campuses with high numbers of low Socio-Economic Status (SES) students that exhibit increased improvement in math or reading may be eligible for this award. Individual awards are based on demonstrated collaboration and improvement in student performance.
Incentive awards for TEEG Cycle 3 were paid to eligible employees in October for performance in the 2008-2009 school year. The district received the grant to pay incentive awards to employees who met student achievement, collaboration, and other campus-defined goals. Because the grant was given to the district, TEA allows the district to pay its share of benefits (workers comp, unemployment, medicare, district share of TRS) from the grant. After those benefits are deducted, employees receive an award amount on their check as their gross award. From that amount the employee's deductions are taken.
TEEG Cycle 3 will be the last cycle for the Texas Educator Excellence Grant. Beginning in the 2009-2010 school year state performance pay awards will be disbursed to eligible employees via the District Awards for Teacher Excellence (DATE) initiative.
