Hexter Elementary School is a nurturing and supportive school in the White Rock area with a commitment to preparing every child for college. Hexter provides a challenging curriculum for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, a safe and secure learning environment, a variety of extracurricular programs, and positive support systems for families. Parents play an important role in supporting their children’s education by seeing that their children come to school ready to learn. Hexter has several policies in place to help children start their schooldays smoothly and safely.



How to Make a DifferenceHalloween 1980
Hexter Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) volunteers make a real difference in the children’s educational experiences. The PTA has volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule and talents. Even an hour of support makes a difference. To join the PTA, contact Bernadette Nutall, vice president-membership,through the school office at (972) 502-5800. LunchHalloween 1980
Parents are always welcome to eat lunch with their children in the Hexter cafeteria.

Fees for breakfast are 75 cents (full price) or 30 cents (reduced). Fees for lunch are $1.50 (full price) or 40 cents. Application forms for a free or reduced lunch and breakfast are available in Ms. Byrne’s office.

If your child pays for lunches and/or breakfast, you may obtain a lunch envelope and pay for a week or month at a time. You may also pay online at www.mealpayplus.com.

Student Drop-off & Pick-up ScheduleHalloween 1980

Arrival: Students may arrive at school after the doors are unlocked at 7 a.m. Breakfast starts at 7:15 a.m. Upon arrival, students may eat breakfast in the cafeteria or report to the designated area until the bell rings at 7:55 a.m. Pre-K through second grade students meet in designated areas of the auditorium. Teachers pick up their students by class in the auditorium at 7:55 a.m. and escort them to their classrooms. Third through fifth graders meet in the gym until the bell rings.

Departure: Students exit the building with their teachers to designated areas facing Brookhurst and Waterview. Brookhurst is closed from 3 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. to limit through traffic during this busy dismissal time.

At 3:15 p.m., any student not picked up is supervised in the auditorium. Parents arriving after 3:15 p.m. must enter the building to pick up a child.

In the case of inclement weather during dismissal, students will wait in their designated morning areas for pickup: PK through grade 2 in the auditorium, grades 3 through 5 in the gym.

Parking procedures
Parking is permitted in the church parking lot or on side streets. For safety reasons, students and parents must cross the street at the crosswalks.
