Stonewall Jackson School Library

General Information

Stonewall students love to read. Every child visits the library at least once a week, an some students exchange books before and after school.

The library sponsors several reading programs. The Texas Bluebonnet Program for students in grades 3-5 consists of 20 books (selected by a panel of Texas elementary librarians) which include all types of children's books. Twenty of our students read all 20 of the 2005 nominated books, and one student has already read all 20 of the 2006 books! Stonewall Jackson also participates in the Six Flags Over Texas Reading Program which requires K-5 students to read (or have read to them) 600 minutes in six weeks. They also have the opportunity to read an additional 600 minutes in six weeks for which they receive special recognition.
