Welcome to the
Media Center!
Our mission is to encourage
individuals to become life-long learners.
Students participate in many
Reading Programs through the Media Center:
- Reading is Fundamental (RIF)
This Reading Program gives each student
three free books during the school year. Students are allowed to
celebrate reading during RIF giveaways.
- Earning By Learning
This Reading Program gives money to students who
read and pass reading comprehension quizzes with a score of 80% or
higher. The 2007-08 school year is focused on 2nd and 4th graders. After-school and Saturday school is provided for students to
read for this effort.
- The Six-Hour Reading Club
This Reading Program will provide students with a Six Flags’ ticket for
reading.
- Book-It
This
Reading Program offers pizza coupons for students who are making great
reading strides in their classrooms.
- Parent Resource
Parents are provided with materials on reading
techniques that will foster a good reading environment in the home.
Parents are allowed to checkout books too.
The media center also hosts book fairs during which
students and parents may purchase books to enrich their home libraries.
Primary classes explore a variety of literature and
are encouraged to discuss books using critical thinking skills.
Intermediate classes continue the exploration of literature through
research and special projects. This is achieved through
collaboration between the librarian and the classroom teacher.
Computers and printers are available for internet
research and typing of research papers. |
