Welcome to William B. Travis!!!! TRAVIS DEPENDS ON ITS VOLUNTEERS!!!!!
The Travis PTA is fortunate to enjoy exceptional volunteer support. Fifty parents and teachers serve on the PTA Board, and many more will help with one or more events throughout the year. We hope you will be able to volunteer this year to help keep Travis a fabulous place for our kids.
One of the best ways to support the school is through the Travis PTA. We have a great many programs to support students, faculty and the school. Running these programs well requires the commitment of a great many volunteers. We will need your help!!
The PTA is trying a different approach to coordinating our volunteers this year. Rather than keep a list of potential volunteers, throughout the year the PTA will make parents aware of volunteering opportunities by posting them through 3 different primary ways: Wolftracks: (an online weekly newsletter via Travis Tag List) .We ask you to check this spot each week for opportunities to help that fit your schedule. Travis TAG List: (email distribution list), an email notification list of important Travis activities and information. Send an email to schulte@travistag.org to request that your email be added to the list. You will receive many timely emails about opportunities at Travis – join the TAG List today!! Names and email addresses will NOT be shared with any other entities. HOWLER: (A monthly newsletter)
We will distribute a list of PTA Committees and Committee Chairs through the TAG List, Wolftracks, and the HOWLER. If there is a committee you would like to get involved with please contact the committee chair directly to introduce yourself and discuss how you can get involved. Also, be sure to get acquainted with the Activity Representatives for your child’s grade who will be a good resource for you. We hope you will respond when your schedule permits.

In addition, there are opportunities to volunteer directly with the school: Travis TMSCA competition Chaperoning for field lessons Class parties Travis musical Library assistance And more!
In the fall, all volunteers will be required to register with DISD and agree to a criminal background check before volunteering on campus. We will also ask you to report your volunteer hours. We need that information for things like grant applications. So please do not be humble in this regard –- keep track of your volunteer time and let us know when you are contacted for that information! Please report your volunteer hours to sneha_sheth@yahoo.com

ONLINE VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION - QUICK, EASY, AND NECESSARY!
FOR RETURNING VOLUNTEERS Good news! If you have registered online before, you simply complete an update. The directions are as follows: · Go to www.dallasisd.org · Click the tab "Support Our Schools" at the top of the page. · Click the “Partners/Volunteers” link in the left-hand frame. · Click “Application in English” or “Application in Spanish”. · If you have completed an online form before, simply complete the few questions under the “Returning Volunteer” section and click “Submit”. · Make any corrections to the information page and submit. · Print two (2) copies of the approval page. · If TRAVIS is not on the approval page, call the Office of District Engagement (972-925-3700) and ask to be put on the Travis list. .Send a copy of the approval page to Susi Parks Grissom, Partnership Coordinator, at Travis, and keep a copy for your files. Ms. Grissom will keep the approval forms on file in the library for the 2008-2009 school year.
FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS If you have never completed an online form, complete the entire form. · Go to www.dallasisd.org · Click the tab"Support Our Schools" at the top of the page. · Click the “Partners/Volunteers” link in the left-hand frame. · Click “Application in English” or “Application in Spanish”. · Be sure that TRAVIS is highlighted under the school select question. · Also be sure to check the box that gives permission for a background check. · Print two (2) copies of the approval page. · If TRAVIS is not on the "congratulations" page, call the Office of District Engagement at (972) 925-3700 and ask to be placed on the Travis list. · Send a copy of the approval page to Susi Parks Grissom, Partnership Coordinator, at Travis, and keep a copy for your files. Ms. Grissom will keep the approval forms on file in the library for the 2008-2009 school year.
