Child Related Professions (CRO)

Information:  There is a Preschool located within the Townview Building  to give the students “hands-on” experience within their future career choices. This course provides specific training designed to develop knowledge and skills necessary for future employment in the child care profession.  The students receive “hands-on” experience beginning Sophomore year, juniors intern at Child Care Centers in Dallas, and Seniors have a choice between paid Internship or attending College Courses for  dual credit at Eastfield College!

Social Services (SS)
Major Club: Natural Helpers

Information: Any student entering into the Social Services Cluster in the 10th grade is signing up for a three year adventure filled experience in which volunteering is an absolute must! The students of the Social Services Cluster will gain experience in other cultures, and the five major social institutions of society: family, education, the economy, government, and religion, not to mention that the “classroom” of Social Services is ALL of Dallas.  Juniors volunteer in agencies and programs that help people, and seniors have paid internships, working  primarily with homeless children in after school programs.

Information:  The Education Cluster is by far one of the most professional programs offered in any High School.  Should you choose, after Freshman year, to enter into the Education Cluster you will be part of a program  which is highlighted by “Option,” an early version of Internship,  volunteer Internship, as well as   paid Internships.  Careers in Education including, teaching, counseling, and administration are each covered in depth in this Cluster.  “Hands-on” work in this cluster includes creating teaching aids, lessons plans, and bulletin boards.  Mrs. Q.S. Robertson, the cluster coordinator,  has been nationally recognized in “Who’s Who Among  America’s Teacher” four times and also recognized as “Teacher of the Year” four times.

Exploring Careers
Major Club:  FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America)

Coordinator: R. Espinoza

Information:  Exploring Careers in Education, Social Services, and Child Related Professions is a course

 designed to help incoming Freshmen decide which program or cluster they would like to enroll in for the

 duration of their  High School years.   Mrs. R. Espinoza, teacher of this class, has spent many years

 creating a curriculum which includes actual “hands-on” field work that include volunteering with

 Daycares, Elementary Schools, and The Salvation Army, to help students decide which cluster best suits

 them.
