Welcome Welcome to the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center Army Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC) program where the standards are high and our expectations are even higher! On behalf of the Director of Army Instruction (DAI) Robert Davis, Lieutenant Colonel, USA, Retired; The Executive Principle Mrs. Alice Black and the entire JROTC faculty, we welcome you to the “Joe D. Sasser Battalion” The mission of our program is "To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens." We do this by using sound teaching skills and leadership experience to teach self-discipline, confidence, teamwork, and pride in a job well done. We have high standards for this very popular elective class and we expect the best from our cadets. To our Cadets, as a JROTC cadet you are embarking on one of the most interesting and valuable educational experiences of your high school career. In JROTC you will engage in academic rigor designed to aid you in becoming a better citizen. The program provides you with tools and skills you can use to succeed in high school, but far more important, these tools and skills will be useful for the remainder of your life. To our parents and guardians, thank you in advance for allowing the JROTC department to be just one of the many positive influences in your young adult’s life to help them become better citizens. Our staff is eager and well prepared to train your son or daughter. We ask for your continued support in the capacity that you may see fit! Each JROTC class comprises a company - a unit - a team, together, the class’s make-up the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center JROTC Battalion. As the Battalion is made up of individuals, it goes without saying that the Battalion's reputation in the school and in the community is shaped by the actions of each of its members. It is expected that each Cadet agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of the JROTC Department and accepts the additional responsibilities of membership in this exceptional organization. As a reminder, there is No Military Obligation for any JROTC Cadet “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” Chinese Philosopher Lao,tsu Thank you, Dwayne E.
