DRIVER'S EDUCATION

Driver's Education is offered to students who will be fifteen(15) years of age or older before the classroom phase of driver education and traffic safety course ends. Driver Education is not required and students receive no credit for the course. The course is scheduled and taught in compliance with the Driver Education Standards of Operation for Public Schools, Education Service Centers, and Colleges or Universities adopted jointly by the Texas Education Agency and the Department of Public Safety. Fees are the responsibility of the students/parents.

The classroom phase of Driver Education, simulations, and in-car instruction are offered in summer school. The summer school program has the same requirements as the regular school year program. Students taking the classroom portion during the summer will not have time to complete the in-car phase. It will need to be scheduled during the fall semester.

PARENT CONFERENCES

Conferences shall be held two times each year with parents/guardians with all students in grades 7-12. The District has scheduled two conferences with parents of secondary school students. In addition to the scheduled dates, students and parents may expect teachers to request a conference 1) if the student is not maintaining passing grades or achieving the expected level of performance, 2) if the student presents any other problem to the teacher, or 3) in any other case the teacher considers necessary.

A student or parent who wants information or has a question or concern should talk with the appropriate teacher, counselor, or principal. A parent who wishes to talk with a teacher may call the office for an appointment during the teacher's conference period or request that the teacher returns the call during a conference period or other mutually convenient time.

REPORT CARDS

At the end of each six-weeks, the school shall give written notice to parents of student progress and conduct in each class or subject. The report will include the number of times the student has been absent. If a student receives a six-weeks grade of less than 70 in any class or subject, the parents are requested to schedule a conference with that teacher.
