The TJ Robotics team has been competing for the past nine years in the Dallas B.E.S.T. Competition sponsored by Texas Instruments and Raytheon. The team meets every weeknight from September through October late into the evening. They even work several Saturdays.  Their mission is to build a working radio remote controlled robot to compete against 27 other schools at the B.E.S.T. competition.
 
 
As a member of the Robotics team, students learn:
  • Engineering skills
  • Team work
  • How to compile data
  • How to write an engineering document
  • How to make accurate calculations and measurements
  • How to use hand and power tools
  • How to wire and solder electronics
  • How to work through the engineering process
  • How to create a presentation for their team
  • How to create a T-shirt design
  • How to make signs and banners
  • How to promote their team in the community
  • How to verbalize their thought process and designs to judges
  • How to operate a radio remote controlled robot
  • How to have fun!
