FALL ACTIVITES:

Fall Dance

  • A Halloween dance is sponsored by the PTA and typically held in the Gym the Friday before Oct. 31st

Meet the Teacher Night

  • This is an evening set aside early in the school year for parents to visit the school, meet the teachers and get information about students’ classes and school events

Project Hands and Feet Can Food Drive

  • Students bring can goods in November and donate them to the North Dallas Food Bank, Mission Oak Cliff, and Downtown Churches

Greiner Walk

  • The faculty and staff go to houses within an eight block radius surrounding the school and deliver school supplies and school information to parents

Academy Holiday Program

  • For academy students to showcase their talents in seasonal performances. This includes choir, band, drama, orchestra, and dance

Area 6 Parent Academy

  • Classes are offered for parents on student issues such as TAKS Preparation

TAKS Saturday School

  • Yearlong tutoring in preparation for the TAKS exam in the Spring

College and Career Day

  • Companies and colleges set up booths in the Gym so that students can get information and advice on going to college and career information

SPRING ACTIVITIES:

Valentine’s Dance

  • Held in February in the Gym

Black History Program

  • In celebration of Black History Month, students are assembled in the auditorium at the end of the month for an inspiring program that includes a guest speaker, guest performances and student performances

Science Fair Judging

TAKS testing - February and April

Annual Spring Talent Show

  • Spring performance in which all students are welcome to showcase their talent

Cinco de Mayo Celebration

  • Folklorico dancers and Mariachi Band performs to celebrate this traditional Mexican holiday

Academy Awards

  • Awards night for Academy Students held at the end of the year

End of Year Prom

  • For graduating Greiner 8th grade students only

OTHER REOCURRING EVENTS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR:

  • Annual trip to San Antonio to learn about Texas History sponsored by the Social Studies Department
  • Annual Cadet Trip to New Orleans
