STUDENTS:

Armelia Willard King Award for Excellence in Science

The Armelia Willard King Award for Excellence in Science is presented annually to a J.L. Long students by the Long Science Department.

Armelia King, J.L. Long Science teacher and coach always aims to do her best. She tirelessly strives to provide stimulating instruction in her classroom, extending this effort to extracurricular activities as well. Highly respected and admired by students, parents and colleagues alike, many seek her as a leader for guidance and assistance. Her students love science and have had tremendous success in both Science Fair and Science Team, consistently winning awards at all levels. Armelia Willard King demonstrates what it is to be a life long learner.

The criteria for the award are based on qualities of excellence exemplified by Mrs. King. This award is presented to a J.L. Long student who:

  • demonstrates leadership on and off campus
  • produces an award winning science fair project
  • competes successfully in extracurricular science competitions
  • goes beyond what is expected just for the joy of learning

Thus Armelia Willard King's 30 years of work live on!
