The involvement of parents and local community
leaders and businesses nurture the growth and excellence
of any public school. A good school has the potential to
be great because of parent volunteers. J.L.Long has been
fortunate to benefit from the activities of the following
organizations:
PTA
The
Parent Teacher Association
at J.L. Long is a strong, active, innovative force that links
the school and the community. The PTA sponsors many activities
such as the Fun Run, Teacher Appreciation Days, Sports Banquet,
and the Yearbook. PTA assists in raising funds to benefit
the needs of the students. Many parents volunteer their time
throughout the school year. Meetings are held on the first
Thursday of each month at 7:00pm.

SBDM
The Site Based Decision Making Committee
consists of representatives from the faculty, staff, parents,
and community. Decisions concerning policy guidelines, school
programs, budget, staff and instruction are made collaboratively
among the council to improve the school. The SBDM team meets
the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm.

This is why we appeal to all parents' & student groups to bring their concerns.
