Tom W Field was the son of one of the pioneer families of Dallas county, John and Kathryn Field.

He was educated in the Dallas Public Schools and attended Harmon Business College. Having served in World War II and in numerous boards and committees, Tom W. Field took great interest in all civic and educational activities in his community.

During his lifetime, he made many gifts of worthwhile nature, including a lot to the Town of Farmers Branch on which to build City Hall and a lot on which to build a school.
