Special programs:
A few of our special programs and activities include: Two-way Dual Language (Kinder & 1st), One-way Dual Language (2nd - 4th), Gifted/Talented, departmentalized insruction (3rd - 5th), pilot program for "7 habits of Highly Effective People"
After-school programs:
The YMCA and the Lakewood After-school program provide two options for after-school care
Extracurricular activities:
Lakewood Elementary P.E. teachers provides a variety of sports skills clinics throughout the year. In addition our students participate in Math/Science Team, Science-Garden Club, Stallion Scoop - on-line newspaper, Art Contest Club, "Green Team", Destination Imagination, Lakewood Outdoor Learning Area - Science, Choir, Student Council

We have a very active PTA, Friend's of Lakewood (Dad's Club), and Site- Based Decision Making Committee.
