Samuel Sherman Conner (1866-1946) was a staunch promoter of education for all. A successful businessman and land owner, Mr. Conner served his Pleasant Grove community as a school board member for 34 years. In addition to his commitment to help others become good citizens, he ensured that many young people received an education. Three schools have been named in honor of Mr. Conner: S. S. Conner High School, built in Pleasant Grove in 1937 on land donated by him; S. S. Conner Middle School, operative during the mid-1950s and early 1960s; and the current site, S. S. Conner Elementary School.
